Thanks for taking the time to visit this site, we hope you will find it interesting. We will complete the website development as time permits. Fancyleaf has been in existence for almost 20 years and in that time has risen to become the major supplier of Fancy Lettuce to the Brisbane distribution centre of Australia’s major supermarket chain. Recently we have also started growing other crops, in response to a growing farm gate trade. Consultancy is another growing area, pardon the pun. We have also been very innovative over the years and have international interest in what we can achieve. Website Design
About Us
Biosecurity
We grow traditional Fancy Lettuce varieties . FANCY LETTUCE We grow four varieties of lettuce for whole head production only, which are supplied to Woolworths . We do no salad mixes such as Mesclun (no, it is not Mescaline which we hear so commonly) as we believe there is too much processing of food already, as well AS the fact that if you produce these products, from a Quality Assurance point of view, you then become a high risk supplier, whereas we are a currently a low risk supplier.
Traditional Fancy Lettuce
SALANOVA LETTUCE The most exciting thing to happen in lettuce production for several years has been the decision by Woolworths to abandon the stocking of Salanova varieties. In our view these were introduced to this country way too early in their development meaning we simply did not have suitable varieties to grow in Australia’s sometimes very difficult growing conditions. these varieteies were bred for the more relaxed climate areas of europe like around the big pond in the middle of the place, or inder cover where everything can be regulated. Outside in this country, we were always behind the 8 ball trying to grow these…

Innovation
We are, and have been for many years, at the forefront of hydroponic innovation. There are many areas of Fancyleaf, and dare we say it the industry, that have benefited from things we have done at here over the past 20 years. However, the one that really relates is our Simplicity growing channel. We started with the brief of wanting a simple, low cost channel that would do what we required and that could be quickly amortised. We believe this has been achieved with local and international sales of this product already into the tens of thousands of metres.
